Ever feel like half the advertising you see seems recycled? Car racing along winding road. Executive on beach. Woman with sponge. Screaming car salesman. And so on.
But soon you could start seeing ads that actually have been recycled. Thought Equity, a Denver-based firm, has collected more than 300 commercials from agencies that no longer need them. It is now reselling the ads, primarily to small firms that can't afford the full costs of ad production. Everybody wins. The agency recoups some costs, and the small firm gets a professional ad. In one example, a Hummer dealer used an ad originally developed for a BMW customizer.
I bet the same idea could be applied to print ads to. Every agency's greatest ads were the ones the client passed over.
